A Good Man is Hard to Find
In the story “A Good Man is Hard to Find” one of the main characters is the grandmother. [Throughout the story we start to see a change in character in the grandmother.] If we examine this change you see she goes from a grandmother who is nagging about how she didn't want to go to Florida as seen on page 1 "The Grandmother didn't want to go to Florida. She wanted to visit some of her connections in east Tennessee and she was seizing at every chance to Baileys mind." and nagging through out the trip, to then a grandmother who is a lot more positive and or religious, mainly seen after the car crash. The Grandmother being a nag with the misfit with a gun is dangerous by its self, but then being a crazy positive and or religious nag and somewhat forcing religion or ideas onto the misfit with a gun, while he is in a testy mood is even more dangerous seen on page 17 " 'I know your a good man,' she said desperately. 'Your not a bit common!' 'Nome, I ain't a good man,' ". The positive or religious side of the grandmother wasn't seen until this situation. The grandmothers impulsive nagging was ultimately was the cause of her death. Maybe if the grandmother didn't have this change in character maybe she would have lived.
The wording in this blog was a bit confusing and I don't think we really saw a positive religious side. She was being quite selfish to save herself rather than giving much thought to her other family members being killed. I can't tell if you think she changed or not because she was "nagging" the entire time.
ReplyDeleteWell made blog with a few loose ideas and multiple grammar mistakes. Has a discernible answer to the question, yet some may disagree with it.
ReplyDeleteWhile I think Andrews comment was a little harsh, I am also a little curious about if you think the grandmother changed or not.
ReplyDeleteI might not have understood what you were trying to say but how was the grandmother a positive nag. Those kind of contradict each other and she seemed to be very negative for the most part.
ReplyDeleteTo clear everything up the point I was trying to get a cross was that she changed. The part about being a positive nag i refer to the point where she says he was a good man etc multiple times.
